Product Care Guide

Thank you for your Vanee Designs purchase. Every piece is handmade with care. To keep it beautiful for years to come, please follow these simple care instructions.
 
1. WASHING
 
• Machine wash on warm gentle cycle (40°C / 104°F).
• Use a laundry bag — strongly recommended to protect your garment.
• Use a mild detergent suitable for delicate fabrics.
• Wash your garment inside out.
• Do NOT use fabric softener.
• Do NOT bleach or use harsh chemicals.
• Do NOT tumble dry.
 
 
2. DRYING
 
• Lay flat to dry on a clean towel or drying rack.
• Gently reshape the garment to its original form while damp.
• Keep away from direct sunlight while drying to prevent fading.
• Do NOT hang to dry — this can stretch the fabric out of shape.
• Do NOT wring or twist to remove water.
 
 
3. STAIN REMOVAL
 
• Act quickly — treat stains as soon as possible.
• Blot (don't rub) liquid spills with a clean dry cloth.
• Apply a small amount of mild detergent to the stain and let sit 10–15 minutes before washing.
• Always test any stain remover on a hidden area first.
• Do NOT apply heat to a stain before it is fully removed.
• Do NOT scrub — this pushes the stain deeper and can cause pilling.
 
 
4. STORAGE
 
• Fold your garment — never hang crochet pieces, as gravity will stretch them.
• Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight.
• Use breathable cotton or linen bags for long-term storage.
• Ensure your garment is fully dry before storing to prevent mildew.
• Consider cedar blocks or lavender sachets to naturally deter moths.
• Do NOT store in sealed plastic bags — air circulation is essential.
 
 
5. PILLING & LOOSE THREADS
 
• Pilling is a natural result of wear on handmade crochet items.
• Use a fabric shaver or sweater stone to gently remove pills.
• Washing less frequently helps reduce pilling over time.
• If a loose thread appears, do NOT cut it. Use a small crochet hook to pull it gently to the inside of the garment.
 
Cutting a loose thread can cause the fabric to unravel.
 
 
6. CARE LABEL SYMBOLS
 
Your Vanee Designs garment includes a care label with the following symbols:
 
• Gentle machine wash (40°C)
• Do not bleach
• Do not tumble dry
• Lay flat to dry
• Do not wring
 
When in doubt, refer to the label sewn inside your garment.
